all grown up

its been a summer FULL of weddings. literally full of them. but last nights wedding made me realize how much everything changes when you have to grow up.
my dearest of dear cousins Chelsea got married.
my Chelsea is off into the world of married splendor.
it was a beautiful reception. It had rained all that day, and the day prior, but the rain let up about 20 minutes before the reception.
It was gorgeous outside. And she looked gorgeous.

all night i kept reminiscing about our childhood and the glorious times we had. Moments like sitting around the piano and singing Hymns opera style, or being insane little 8 year old kids and making up our own club at Grandpa and ma's that none of the other cousins could be in. Or of our plans to go to BYU-Hawaii and both marrying Tongon brothers. Or the infamous "wake-up" moment. Or the when she busted her knee in the 8th grade, and i got to be her book carrier while she gimped around. Or when our teacher asked us to pick out a number between 1 and 5 and I yelled out "7".

But the best memory I remembered last night, was when Chelsea met her now hubby Steven.... In the 9th grade. Yes the 9th grade. Those love birds have been together since age 14, and I was there for all of it. The 3 of us were quite the bunch. Being choir nerds and loving every minute of it.

I'm so thrilled that they are now together for all of Eternity. Chelsea couldn't have found someone better for her, and Steven is the luckiest guy ever. I hope he knows that.

Oh what a night. What a happy, rainy, tear-jerking, bouquet-catching, beautiful, grown-up night.
love it.

(Yes. I caught the bouquet. Not good with all the aunts around. They will be talking for months.)

song of the week #whatever this week is

i love having a CD player in my new car,
because i listen to old CD's that i normally wouldnt have on my
"ipod of life".
this week was the re-birth of Blue Merle.
never heard of them?
no one has.
thats why i looooove them.
they are unique and raw.
not over-produced and stereotypical.
i first heard them in 2005 when my friend Emily took me to their concert.
it was glorious.
they have since split up, and tried to go single,
but havent made it.
blue merle though, will always have a place in my heart...
you should check them out
on their website
or listen to my favorite one of the week
Every Ship Must Sail Away
or listen to their most popular song... Burning in the Sun

last weeks song of the week

oops
i thought i had more time last week
...but i did indeed run out.
last weeks fav was most definitely
the new single by A Fine Frenzy.
I have loved her last CD for a couple years now,
(finding each song so freakishly relate able)
so i was floored when I saw she had a new release.
and naturally i immediately downloaded it.
Its a little bit different than her old stuff,
but I really like the spunk to this.
and the lyrics make my life
hope you enjoyyyy

love

Most of you know how much i LOVE American Idol. Life is that much happier when its American Idol time. With this love obsession comes a favorite. And if you were around me at all anytime within the American Idol 8 season, you knew how much I LOVED Kris. Its true. Love love love. In fact, I voted multiple times each week AND bought his songs on itunes. Yes. It was THAT intense. You can even read my blogs about him here and here

Well since American Idol only runs once a year...I have to find other happy TV shows, and for the past couple years, I have become obsessed with So You Think You Can Dance. I dont know why because I CAN NOT dance to save my life, but its a great show all the same. (see brittany, it IS possible to like BOTH shows!) Well, since the very beginning, I have had a new love to replace Kris. And his name is Evan. Oh, how i love this man. He is a broadway dancer. LOVE IT! And he is just happy. I love his interpretation of the different dance styles, and his personality. I hope he wins...even though Brandon probably will. My favorite pair was Evan and Randi. Too bad she is gone. That was a sad day.
I have since been rooting for Jeanine. Cross your fingers everyone...the finale is next week :)
Go EVAN!!

see an awesome Randi/Evan dance here

life is wonderful

It takes a crane to build a crane
It takes two floors to make a story
It takes an egg to make a hen
It takes a hen to make an egg
There is no end to what I'm saying

It takes a thought to make a word
And it takes some words to make an action
It takes some work to make it work
It takes some good to make it hurt
It takes some bad for satisfaction

La la la la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la la la life goes full circle
Ah la la la la la la life is wonderful
Al la la la la

It takes a night to make it dawn
And it takes a day to make you yawn brother
And it takes some old to make you young
It takes some cold to know the sun
It takes the one to have the other

And it takes no time to fall in love
But it takes you years to know what love is
It takes some fears to make you trust
It takes those tears to make it rust
It takes the dust to have it polished

Ha la la la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la la la life goes full circle
Ah la la la la la la life is so full of
Ah la la la la la la life is so rough
Ah la la la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la la la life goes full circle
Ah la la la la la la life is our love
Ah la la la la la

It takes some silence to make sound
It takes a loss before you found it
And it takes a road to go nowhere
It takes a toll to make you care
It takes a hole to make a mountain

Ah la la la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la la la life goes full circle
Ha la la la la la life is wonderful
Ha la la la la la life is meaningful
Ha la la la la la life is wonderful
Ha la la la la la life it is...so... wonderful
It is so meaningful
It is so wonderful
It is meaningful
It is wonderful
It is meaningful
It goes full circle
Wonderful
Meaningful
Full circle
Wonderful

song of the weeeeeeek

This past week flew by without me even realizing it.
For crying out loud there are only 4 weeks of camp left.
bah!
I can't believe it.
But it was a week regardless of how fast it flew.
And the song for that week was a tie between 2.
The first one was the ITUNES FREE DOWNLOAD a week or so ago.
I love Tuesdays for the sole reason that there MAY be something good for free that week.
Most times its crappy, with some horrid rap song, or even worse... a country song...
but once every blue moon there is something delectable.
And this was one of them...
Fireflies by Owl City

The 2nd one is Old Letters by Company of Thieves
This is the first song on their CD entitles Ordinary Riches.
You may remember them from This post
Sorry its not the best recording, but i just LOVE her voice. brilliant.

confession

most of you know that I LOVE TO READ.
i do.
it makes me happy.
i feel like i can be someone else,
escape to a distant land,
or even just some other place.
i can live vicariously through peoples lives.
and learn things i never would in real life.
because of this love of reading
i ALWAYS finish a book.
i have never started a book without finishing.
never.
because i CRAVE endings.
i simply want to know what happens.
i want to know who dies.
or ends up with who.
or who the bad guy is.
or what the major twist is.
i just simply always have to know the end.
i am also a very easily amused person.
in everything.
including books.
i tend to like it if i finish it.
so pretty much everything i read.

but folks,
there comes a time for everything i suppose
and i found a book.
a book i CAN NOT finish.
i have been trying
and trying and trying.
and i just can go no further.
remember how i was going to
read one book a week this summer?
well, im still on book #2.
The Thirteenth Tale.
I'm 150 pages in,
and i think thats where it shall end.
This is tough because like I said,
I always finish a book.
But its just not meant to be.
I have tried for almost 6 weeks,
and this is where the book goes
bye-bye.
On to new and better things.
