it's the holiday season, oh woop dee doo!

remember this terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day?
well i do.
very clearly in fact.
it's weird to think that was already an entire YEAR ago!
so crazy!

but I am happy to report that this thanksgiving drive was MUCH better
and much quicker...
the 5 1/2 hour drive, went just as planned,
(although I did almost run out of gas...how is it that I got to Boise on a full tank with some to spare, and this time had to stop in snowville? thats over 100 miles difference?) whatever
it all worked out!

And it was a lovely Turkey weekend indeed!
I had to work the Mon, Tues, Wed before Thanksgiving (one of the perks of year round school) so my Boise visit was short and sweet, but it was definitely much needed.

Highlights include but are not limited to:
  • gretchen watching Lion King and thinking "Mafoose" (muh-foo-s) is a good name for her first born
    • A. thats a horrible name
    • B. its MUFASA!!! seriously? just about died laughing.
  • favorite quote of the weekend "Is there a difference between lesbians and homosapiens?"
  • a DVR full of lifetime/hallmark/abc family christmas movies just for me to watch
  • turkey day at grandmas
  • seeing family
  • the tradition of black friday ads spread all over the floor after the turkey has been consumed
  • this year actually GOING black friday shopping
  • standing outside target for an hour
  • standing inside the checkout line for 1.5 hours to buy my happy christmas tree
  • trying to flirt with the guy standing in front of me, fail
  • mall shopping at 2 am
  • getting decked in the face by some IDIOT girl in the mall at 3 am
  • literally yelling at above mentioned idiot girl, causing her to flee in sheer terror
  • feeling rather drowsy and delirious driving home
  • more christmas movies friday morning
  • christmas light hanging with father and samuel
  • experiencing a real like clark griswold moment...blasted lights
  • annual family christmas extravaganza till 1 am
  • more decorating and light hanging
  • more shopping
  • chats with my ma
  • another turkey dinner
  • a beautiful drive home with glee christmas and bieber christmas music :)
  • flirting with the starbucks man...thank you for making my day
  • another turkey dinner, yummmm
  • decking the halls at my apartment
oh how i LOVE the holiday season... dont you?

"are you coming home on thursday? it is the greatest day of *YOUR* life after all..."

ya, thats what samuel said to me the other day.
sadly no i won't be there, but actually he pretty much hit that right on,
i think its pretty safe to say it was one of the greatest days of my life.
(awww shucks, look at me being all cheesy and what not)
 so.....ANYWAYS!!!!!!
happy birthday to the COOLEST twins i know.
seriously people. these are 2 wayyy cool kids...
they are now 15 years young. and still my best buddies.
i remember the day they were born,
(and now excuse me while i go and feel old for a minute)
and it was pretty flippin awesome.

i sure hope the day is magical you two...just not TOO magical
you kids are only 15, alright?!
ok. thanks.
awww probably one of my favorite pictures of them
gretch and damian/rory. and samuel getting his eagle. classy
oh....maybe this one IS my favorite.
you might think that I was the one turning 15...shoot dang.
Anywho. Hope you both have a most triumphant day! Don't miss me too much!!!!!!!!

ferries, tulips, and a whole lotta fun

remember how i went on a glorious adventure to seattle and never shared happy details with you? i blame that on a combination of 1. i wanted to get all the pictures and 2. i was lazy and too busy cleaning my apartment and watching season 1 of ugly betty....so now that i have all the pictures, and am done with season 1, i can share with you the fantastic, thrilling, wonderful and fun filled adventures of whitney, kasidy, and sara in the pacific northwest.

we were basically traveling for 6 days. slc-boise-seattle-all around the seattle area-boise-salt lake. ya, a lot of driving is right! but we had some good chats, good laughs, and some good naps (not the driver of course). but it was definitely an adventure. i think the best game we played in the car was "tell us your whole life story" and then "sara picks songs that define the relationship that you will have with the boy you like" believe me, there were some good ones in there.

also, i think one of the best things we did overall was look for random washington boyfriends we could take back to salt lake with us. any boy we thought was cute, we quickly devised a plan of action, and then...did nothing....except imagine that the glorious meet-cute had actually worked out, and we would be planning an october wedding. sounds thrilling eh? well i assure you it was. there were lots of potential meet-cutes (if you dont know what this means...see here. its what every girl wants badly), but sadly we are now back in SLC and not a single one of them came back with us. i found one at the EMP (experience music project museum) which i thought was perfect...but it ended there. i also had one planned out in my head... as we sat waiting for the monorail, i imagined a dashing young man accidentally tripping and falling down into the tracks, where i would in turn jump down and save him but he would have a bad head injury and then long story short, i would fall in love with his amazingly amazing brother while he was sleeping. one can only dream right?

so, im sure you are super bored with my ramblings, and just want to see pictures right? so first things first, remember this post where i mentioned a bucketlist item? well, that came true and it was definitely the highlight for me. and that ladies and gentlemen was the skagit valley tulip festival. oh my own little slice of heaven on earth...just wish i could have shared it with my ma too :)

another great adventure was getting to take our roommate liz with us. well kind of...real liz had to work so we took 'flat liz' to seattle instead...you know, like flat stanley? well, it was fun. its hard to remember to get pictures with your flat friend, but she sure enjoyed the sights! yay liz! liz hooray!

there were indeed many adventures had on this glorious trip. we played lots, ate amazing food (seriously, we vowed to only eat at trendy washington-esque places and it was glorious) we stayed with basically complete strangers who were in fact some of the nicest people in the world, took lots of jumping pictures, made several twilight/vampire references, slept like little babies at night, and just had a grand old time. can i please go back tomorrow? thanks. appreciate it :)

i also kind of crossed off another bucketlist item...orcas island! i have always wanted to go, and that folks is exactly what we did. now, what i really want is to spend an entire week on orcas island sailing, relaxing and whale watching, but the fact that we went and drove around the entire island (literally) was magical and filled me with joy...you see, i love ferries. a lot a lot. as mcdreamy said in the very first season of greys "theres this thing i have for ferries..." im with you buddy. also, i have an obsession with this movie and have for...a long time. and although the movie was not filmed on orcas island, thats where its takes place. so, hopefully my week on orcas island will come someday, and preferably with my own version of patrick dempsey, because apparently thats where my obsession lies...whatever.

seriously folks. the entire week was great. and if you are planning a trip up yonder, make sure and hit up some of my new favorite sights and eateries. silence heart nest (yes that is the name of it, and clearly part of what makes it amazing) also, the pink door, ivars (classic, but a must), and so many more.

I LOVE SEATTLE!!!!

neutron star collision

belgian waffles. great conversation. wii just dance 2. wonderful 50 degree weather. green hornet. pizza and breadsticks. bowling. fhe. chuck. gym. sleep.

best part of the day? the stars gave the slightest glimmer of possibly lining up in my favor. im sure they will be back to their normal jumbled pattern in like 5 seconds, but for this day. they were in a nice little line, just for me. splendid.

happy monday!

updates...for lack of a better title

went to thriller AND drowsy chaperone with kym a couple weekends ago.
it was magical and happy and i enjoyed every moment.
it seriously is one of the most creative productions ever.
its a must see for all.

got to go home home HOME this past weekend
it was just swell.
i hadnt been home since i moved to SLC in august,
so it was a much need trip.
AND my mom always goes out for halloween
so i was excited just to be there.

kym and i recently decided to both start watching our movies in abc order
haha it sounds so funny, and so ridiculous
but im quite enjoying myself.
im almost through with the 'A's
and some of them i haven't watched in years probably.
i sure love movies. and i sure do have a sweet collection

going to park city tomorrow for the first time!
sooooo excited

yesterday was my last day in my combo class of 4th/5th grade
it was absolutly tragic
and i was borderline on the verge of tears a few times
pathetic maybe, but these kids are incredible.
i have loved every minute of this expereince
and i just pray that my time in 3rd grade goes half as great as this did
and then i pray that i can find a job soon after :)

some of my goodbye cards were just too great!
1. "Dear Miss Ward. Im really gong to miss you. I think that you are the best student teacher in the hole univers. i beg of you don't live please. your student, amelia"
(haha dont live? ha i hope she meant dont leave)
2. "Dear miss ward. i think its rude that you are leaving. but its ok. dont leave! math will not be the same without you. well, nothing will be the same with out you!"
(believe me, i could stay i would!)
3. "Dear mrs. ward. why in the world do you have to go? i know, but I'll miss you tons. You are a wonderful student teacher. Trust me there were some i never talked to. Go and be a great teacher! I'll miss you"
(i think thats my new life motto :) go and be a great teacher!)
4. one girls card that she drew had 'happy birthday' scribbled out and then underneath said goodbye. when she gave it to me she said, i dont know why i started writing happy birthday, but i fixed it so its ok.
(serious, it is the funniest thing ever)

voting for this closed on monday.
im such a nerd, but my fingers will be crossed until Dec 1st when they announce the winners.
spiced orange harvest.....spiced orange harvest......spiced orange harvest.

i LOVED the movie Valentines Day. except that patrick played the bad guy...grrrr.
but now they are in talks for a New Years Eve movie...featuring Lea Michelle
and possibly Zac Efron...
best news ever? i think yes.

just in case you were wondering, my computer crashed
that why i have been MIA this week.
luckily its back to working properly
and i just pray that it continues to do so.

the new josh groban cd comes out in less that a MONTH
can. not. wait.
he is my soul mate im pretty sure.

my mom sent me this commercial the other day
i laughed so hard there were tears.

rocky horror glee show?
heck yes.
im nervous but excited.
maybe i will sing a song called, nervous but excited.

going to the 3rd grade on monday.
wish me luck!

i can't belive its over..the days were slipping past... the good things never last

i can't believe it.
summer is over and done for.
i feel like it just barely started, but here i am, living in salt lake, and starting my final semester of so-called "college." i will be honest, im a little broken hearted about not being back in logan. i miss it already, and im recently realizing how much im going to miss out on this semester! like the entire week of welcome, (which is by far my favorite time of the year), football games, basketball games, angies run, aggie ice cream, seeing the 'A' from pretty much anywhere i go, gorgeous logan weather, ...crap...im feeling a little homesick for good old logan! but i am putting faith in the fact that salt lake is where im supposed to be. its something new and exciting, and i think it will turn out to be a really fun semester.

oh did i mention, HELLO!!!?
yes i am in fact alive and well.
just have been internet-less for the past week or so.
quite tragic yes,
but luckily the qwest man i flirted with on the phone will have our internet up and running on sept 7th
hopefully i can make it another week...
hopefully.

i love my friends
the ones that really care, and are sincere and make you feel WORTH something.
the ones that love you no matter what,
and call just to see how you are doing,
and see how everything in your life going.
the ones that are indeed curious about every detail of you
and make it a point to tell you they care.
...thats what makes the world a better place...

i have high hopes for my new ward.
its new ward for me, with new people and in a new place,
and i keep praying that its a good place for me.
to meet people, and to make my semester here more enjoyable.
BUT, i have dedicated a section of my white board to keeping tally of the marriage talks.
seriously, we are already 1 for 1
and since its an 'older' ward, i feel there will be PLENTY.
ahhhh gotta love singles wards.

it for reals occurred to me today that im graduating in 3 1/2 months.
that means in 4 months i could be a real life teacher.
i mean, the odds of that happening are slim what with the crap economy, budget cuts, and the odds of finding a teaching job mid school year are next to impossible,
BUT the point is that im so close to being done.
its the weirdest feeling ever
mixed with massive amounts of fear and that wretched 'i want to throw up feeling'
but also extreme joy, and the idea that something i have wanted for so long,
and something i have been working for for so long is ALMOST here.
wow. can it really be real?
am i really filling out my educator licensing and certification application right now?
why yes. yes i am.

love like its all that we know.

1. a few days ago i was sitting in my room, taking a break from homework, jamming to glee, and painting my nails with my favorite purple-y polish. all of a sudden dream on started play. this makes me quite happy, cause i heart this song and i heart matthew morrison like there is no tomorrow. well a few seconds into the song  as im belting away, i randomly look at my nail polish and see that it is named 'dream on.' few things in life could have made me that happy....

2. today as i was doing homework, i learned all about baroque period of music. you know the lively flute playing music? well, just so you know, the entire time i just kept laughing  because the whole hour lecture i listened to, all i could think of was this....

3. had the most fantastic weekend!.... bffs. sharis. giggling. sleep talking. bringing bffs to work. shopping. more shopping. seeing the best movie ever. new favorite song. shopping. yummy dinner in BODO. gallivanting around the river. picture taking. driving. random band on campus that was quite awful. mosquito bites. zac efron. sleeping in. pioneer day. BSB youtube marathon. finding my BSB cd. random short bus shuttle to the park. arriving at the park 6 hours early. cotton candy. funnel cake. sleeping in the shade. new awesome band. two of my campers showed up. watching a random cat fight right before macy gray comes on stage being surprised by how much we enjoyed macy gray. anxiously waiting. still waiting. BACKSTREETS BACK ALRIGHT. falling in love with 2 new BSB songs. shape of my heart. 'they still got it!' feeling like a twelve year old dream came true. best lemonade of my life. short bus shuttle back to the car. off to merritts. jukebox selections of the night...'dream on,' 'fat bottomed girls,' and 'does your mother know.' so tired and sunburned. must sleep. ahhhhhhh. soooo happy.

4. almost done with class #1. then...gotta get going on class #2. gahhh summer is going by too quickly. someone make it stop?

stupid plate tectonics

this absolute obsession for tyler ward is getting a little out of control
but i just cant help it when he does awesome things like this and this

last week,
i was blogging during the earthquake.
yes there was an earthquake here in little old logan
and it caused me to feel a strange sea sick feeling for a good 2 hours
when i told my mom about it she at first didnt belive me,
then she said "well dont die, you have to come home tomorrow"
thanks ma
then i tol my little bro samuel
he said "gosh! stupid plate tectonics are ruining our lives"

going home 3 weeks before the semester ends in NOT a good idea
it was not easy to leave
not easy at all

my i-pod of life has been found
sooo glad.
soooooooooo glad.

where is my school-related motivation?
where did it all go?
i have motivation to do other things
like sleep, blog, waste time on facebook,
watch movies, and sleep some more
but school motivation is very much gone

in my mind im planning summer camp activities
which is not good cause i still have a good
5 or so lesson plans to write in the next 2 weeks
but all i want to do is think about fairmont pool days,
samoa ball, battle ball, and field trips to the discovery center

kym brought me a subway sandwhich today at work.
love her.

pretty sure its a good thing i am moving to salt lake
because i sure have been traveling that way a lot lately
and will continue to do so this weekend
and next weekend
and one weekend in may
and one weekened in june
and probably one weekend in july

i want to do something stellar for birthday number twenty two this summer
ideas?

the fact that glee was on tonight
and i was STUCK at work
was torture.

this one time i went tanning a lot in one week becuase it was spring break
i got really dark.
then real life started over again
im no longer dark

my boss (for my summer job)
called me a facebook junkie.
awesome

sara really explained our friendship best when she said
"its like hanging out with myself, only theres 2 of me!"
gosh sara. get your own personality ;)
BFF.
love it!

alright. thats enough of my really pointless ramblings.
enjoy this picture
and have a superb evening.
i gotta go watch glee

a few noteworthy notes

1. pretty sure all of you know i LOVE mr. kris allen...it will come as no surprise to those who have read my blog, so its no shock that his performance on thursday was something i had been waiting and waiting for all week. and it did not disappoint. love him a lot.

2. went to ag in the classroom today...totally expecting this to be a 'yeehaw' farmer workshop about cows and crops, but holy cow it was SOOOO much fun! there are so many amazing resources out there for us as teachers to teach our students about agriculuture and integrating it will science, social studies, math, reading etc. seriously! this program lets you rent a chick incubator so you can raise chicks in your class and talk about life cycles etc. how cool is that?! you can buy bolls of cotton and let students gin their own cotton, or purchase wool and spin their own yarn, or purchase wheat stalks to crush and make their own flour! come on! utah state is soooo cool!

3. after ag in the classroom...we went to village inn. i love these girls <3 what are we going to do with out each other once practicum starts?! we decided to create level 3 support group on facebook. thats how much we will miss each other haha

4. i spent the evening having dinner and catching up with my dear karinne and whitney #2. how fantastic the night was. we stayed and talked for 6 HOURS! and had no idea time we had been talking that long! its amazing to see how life has changed and where it has taken the 3 of us in just a short few years. karinne married to the "kid we thought was crazy", whitney married with a baby coming in april, and me finishing up my last semester in logan and moving to salt lake. its unbelievable. but how wonderful that we could get together and it felt just like old times :)

5. my dear friend brittany found out this week she is having TWINS! oh. my. gosh. im so happy for her and her husband!

6. i decided to work 2 jobs this summer and am prepared to have no life so i can go to new york this summer! and see my favorite aunt and uncle, their cute little boy and this plus several others along that line :)

7. i woke up this morning, and it WASN'T pitch black outside and there were real life birds chirping out my window (yes, i sleep with my window open, <3 it)

8. im really happy for my bosom friend sara michelle ence. hehehe

9. there are a lot of weddings to attend in the next 3 months. goodness. but im way excited for all of them!

10. my cousin is in china right now teaching english with her "not" fiance. i love getting her emails and pictures because she types them exactly as if she is talking, and telling the stories or explaining something. its so entertaining to me, and she looks like she is having an absolute blast!

courtesy of kym

the reason in which i am posting this poem needs no explanation.
just read...

A WOMAN'S POEM:
Before I lay me down to sleep,
I pray for a man who's not a creep,
One who's handsome, smart and strong.
One who loves to listen long,

One who thinks before he speaks,
One who'll call, not wait for weeks.
I pray he's rich and self-employed,
And when I spend, won't be annoyed.
Pull out my chair and hold ...my hand.
Massage my feet and help me stand.
Oh send a king to make me queen.
A man who loves to cook and clean..

I pray this man will love no other.
And relish visits with my mother.

go ahead...have a great day!

if you are looking for a pick me up. here are a few options.

*peopleofwalmart.com I know i mentioned this like 2 posts ago, but COME ON! its so dang funny!
*pandora.com those days when you leave your beloved i-pod at home, its nice to know that your favorite tunes are only just a click away
*jokeoftheday.com rather dumb...yet entertaining jokes to give you a good cackle
*watching a video on youtube.com then watching some of the suggested videos on the side. you always end up with the most entertaining things
*mylifeisaverage.com its just great to look at those random things that happen everyday

some favorites posts from recently are:
*Today in Science the teacher was reading out loud from the text book and having trouble pronouncing a long word. She said that it's a mouthful, then a kid in the back proceeded to say "that's what she said." Everyone turned around to smile at him. Turns out it was our principle. He just became a lot cooler. MLIA
*Today, I was in French class reading sentences and we had to guess what words meant. When the word la vérité came up, everyone was stumped, but I raised my hand and asked if it meant truth. It did. My teacher was so impressed that I had used context clues and english derivatives. Too bad I guessed based on 'veritaserum' from Harry Potter. MLIA
*Today, I bought a cupcake from a bake sale to support charity. What did it support? Fighting childhood obesity. Best dollar I've ever spent. MLIA
*I forgot to change my clock yesterday morning. I made a wish at 11:11 and then my mom told me to change my clock back an hour. I made another wish at 11:11 an hour later. They both came true. I feel I beat the system. MLIA
*Today, my friend showed me the sentence "Woman without her man is nothing," that an English class had been told to punctuate. Apparently all the guys put "Woman, without her man, is nothing," while the girls put "Woman: without her, man is nothing." I will never underestimate the power of punctuation again. MLIA
*Today, I got very frustrated with my computer because the music that was playing wouldn't turn off, no matter how many times I pressed mute. After about 15 minutes I noticed I was listening to my iPod. MLIA.

Sorry there are so many...they are all just so funny!

another place that brings me great joy is forever21.com [search word:paris]
also ebay.com, half.com, or amazon.com...cause i kinda like to shop
and there is always the lovely blog stalking that i am so fond of which includes
nieniedialouges.com because she is a powerful spirit, and has such wise words of inspiration.

have a stellar day!
