remembering

today there was a program on the history channel that was investigating the September 11th attacks, and discussing the 'conspiracy theory' behind it. i only caught about 5 minutes of it, but i walked out of the room completely angered and astounded. i couldnt believe the things people were saying about our country, and the selfish opinions that some people have. not once did they mention the thousands of innocent souls that lost their lives that day. not once did they mention the utter fear that was felt across the entire country. not once did they say anything positive or patriotic. i was completely shocked, and angered, so i spent a lot of today thinking about that terrible day. thinking about where i was, and how scared i felt thousands of miles away from the attacks. today is a day to remember. where we should take a moment and think about that dreadful day. so i watched a few videos on youtube. and here is one that left me in tears...
GOD BLESS THE USA
If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I'd worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.
I'd thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can't take that away.
And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.
That I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
And I'm proud to be and American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

the Messiah has come, and He will come again

I always feel so rejuvenated and inspired when I watch this movie. It is so incredibly beautiful and powerful, and was the perfect way to start my sunday morning.

"You have come into this world at a time that has been anticipated from the beginning--a time prior to the Second Coming of the Lord, in which, on one hand, the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored in its fulness and, on the other, there is great turmoil, confusion, and wickedness. The proving ground that you were born into is wonderful, affording great opportunities, but at the same time there is danger in abundance, even danger to one's very soul. Now is the time to commit yourself to the Lord as to what you will become during this mortal probation. Along with your parents, living prophets, and the scriptures, the Holy Ghost will help you distinguish between right and wrong so correct decisions can be made." -John B. Dickson

“Brothers and sisters, the prophecies of Christ's first coming were fulfilled, ‘every whit.’ As a result, many throughout the world believe that the Savior did come and did live in the meridian of time. But there are still many prophecies yet to be fulfilled! In this and other conferences, we hear living prophets prophesy and testify of Christ's Second Coming. They also witness of the signs and wonders all about us, telling us that Christ will surely come again. Are we choosing to believe their words? Or despite their witnesses and warnings, are we waiting for evidence--are we ‘walking in darkness at noon-day’ (D&C 95:6), refusing to see by the light of modern prophecy, and denying that the Light of the World will return to rule and reign among us?” -Robert D. Hales

"How portentous are the words of revelation found in the 88th section of the Doctrine and Covenants concerning the calamities that should befall. . . .
"How interesting are descriptions of the tsunami and the recent hurricanes in terms of the language of this revelation. . . .
"Man's inhumanity to man expressed in past and present conflict has and continues to bring unspeakable suffering. . . .
"What we have experienced in the past was all foretold, and the end is not yet. Just as there have been calamities in the past, we expect more in the future. . . .
"The Lord has said, 'If ye are prepared ye shall not fear' (D&C 38:30)." -Gordon B. Hinckley
