remembering

today there was a program on the history channel that was investigating the September 11th attacks, and discussing the 'conspiracy theory' behind it. i only caught about 5 minutes of it, but i walked out of the room completely angered and astounded. i couldnt believe the things people were saying about our country, and the selfish opinions that some people have. not once did they mention the thousands of innocent souls that lost their lives that day. not once did they mention the utter fear that was felt across the entire country. not once did they say anything positive or patriotic. i was completely shocked, and angered, so i spent a lot of today thinking about that terrible day. thinking about where i was, and how scared i felt thousands of miles away from the attacks. today is a day to remember. where we should take a moment and think about that dreadful day. so i watched a few videos on youtube. and here is one that left me in tears...
GOD BLESS THE USA
If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I'd worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.
I'd thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can't take that away.
And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.
That I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
And I'm proud to be and American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
