thwo tots. two thoughts

1. apparently i am destined to be a teacher, because i was called as a relief society teacher today. i'm nervous but excited, and really want to sing a song called nervous but excited, but i will refrain for now. but seriously, i am looking forward to this, and i think it will be a great learning experience, and a great chance for me to get to know all the girls in my ward :) just call me teach!

2. can i just say how STOKED i am for this week?! i am substituting the ENTIRE week in my 4th/5th combo class! yay! i cant wait to see these kids, and the fact that i get PAID for it this time, is awesome! hooray! i have never been so excited to WORK!

okay, i lied. three thoughts, not just two....
3. elder christoffersons fireside tonight was amazing, and JUST what i needed to hear.

happy sunday!

just so you know

im about 500% sure that i attend the most awkward singles branch in the world. seriously. im always in shock when i walk out the door. and then spend the next 5 minute drive home laughing my head off. if only you all could experience the awkwardness that is the northview branch...

i always. always. always dress according to what shoes i plan on wearing.
because thats really all that matters anyways...

i have recently been listening to classical music non stop.
i guess MUSIC 1010-Classical Appreciation
not only taught me to appreciate classical music,
but to absolutely love it more than i already did.
its a good thing college has taught me something.

i can honestly say that in the past week,
i have downloaded 2 backstreet boys songs
1 selena gomez song
and 1 jonas brothers song.
um...when did i turn 12 again?

i start student teaching in 29 days.
kinda scary.
but really exciting!
but also depressing because i walked through the school supply isle and felt totally bummed that i dont get to buy school supplies this year. totally getting jipped this semester...

i know i know, i have mentioned this dude plenty of times, but seriously. what is there not to love?
he just makes me happy.

i chuckle to myself every time i see the bouquet of roses on my dresser because:
1. they are yellow, and that reminds me of a quote in this movie.
2. i got them for my birthday from a 13 year old boy who is not my little brother :) ...which is another reason why i can say i have the best job ever

totally obsessed with john keats as of late.
i owe it all to bright star...fantastic.

2 weeks of playcamp left.
which means only 4 free snowcones from snowcone man trevor.
crap.

love this: “true friendship isn't about being there when it's convenient; it's about being there when it's not.”

just found out its shark week.
ahhhhhhhh i LOVE SHARK WEEK!

im shoving an entire semesters course into the next week and a half.
pray i dont hurt myself.

i really love sundays.
hope everyone has had a miraculous day!

have a cup of sunshine

Well the newest obsession, courtesy of MUSIC 1010 is Camille Saint-Saƫns: The Carnival of the Animals, particularly The Swan Movement...or The Aquarium. crap The Finale is pretty awesome too. hard to decide.

i didnt think it could ever happen, but Viva la Vida has been passed up by TWO songs on my itunes play count. coming in at number one is Glee version of Poker Face and number two is Hey Soul Sister. What am i saying, im really not that shocked...but its quite intriguing.

well, David has done it again. <3 <3 <3 well, i love it anyways :)

funny things kids said today:
6 year old girl-'i never want to get married! that would be soooo embarrassing being in front of so many people. i wish i was a boy too so i wouldn't have to get pregnant."
13 year old boy- 'why don't girls have adams apples?'
10 year old girl-'being 21 is a fun age, there are lots of things you can go do in vegas.'

ok this suite is pretty fantastic too. just sayin.

some of you probably know that my 2 favorite foods happen to not really be foods at all. call me 4, but i just get complete satisfaction over snowcones and cotton candy. its basically total happiness to me. so when i saw this, it immediately was put on my bucket list of places to visit. i mean, COME ON!

dont worry september 21st is already marked on my calendar
AND i intend to make a paper chain this weekend :)

the more i see the less i know

an unusual version of golddigger had me laughing so hard i was crying. CRYING i say! wow. i just cant get over it...someday when i get an iphone, thats the first app im purchasing

this whole summer school online thing is kind of difficult. there are soooooo many distractions

kym and i added something special to our bucket lists... 'watch every movie that Stephen Tobolowsky has starred in'

i get the chills every time i hear idina menzel or kristen chenoweth sing.

my job finally starts this week! im so excited to see my campers and go on field trips, and swim days, and play ridiculous games all day long! ahhhhhh i really do <3 my job....

this is one of my top 5 favorite movies, and it always will be

this week, i found out my sister really likes badmitton ;) and bears

soooo i think this kid is pretty good. hopefully he can help us all forget about that one kid that got by some mystery got a record deal... justin beiber...bleh

okay i apologize...this is really stupid. but kind of funny at the same time. i had a good laugh

im compiling the ultimate summer of 20 and 10 soundtrack. its quite fabulous. and this song is indeed included

i fake planned my trip to Paris. and found my hotel. *gasp* i have this thing for blue doors....too bad its around $520 a night :S...........this one is quite lovely as well and only a 7 minute drive to this one thing im "semi" obsessed with

i will be in student teaching orientation 3 months from today. ahhhh thanks for totally freaking me out Emily!

i taught singing time in primary today and used this story. I absolutely loved this article!

i looked at the itunes play count to see how many times i had played this song since tuesday, and... well... um... im not going to publicly admit how many i have listened to it...

im totally going to buy this...when i have money

the msn homepage says 'be ready for jupiter and uranus to unite' i totally just laughed out loud....i need to grow up

well...thats the end of my ramblings for today. i tried to refrain from so many 'glee' blurbs, but i noticed there are still several. sorry. i will try to shelter my obsession a little better.
actually...i make no promises
.happy sunday everyone.

over

works over.
its quite sad.
i have to wait a whole year to see these kids again.
that is if they come back next year.
that is if I come back.
yes some of these children are VERY annoying. and YES by the end of the summer, i could have screamed at them all. but now that its over, its quite depressing.
us counselors even had our last get together tonight. i loved how much fun we had at work, getting paid to go to the movies, go swimming, and play all sorts of random games. i'm going to miss our weekly "staff meetings" where we would go out to eat and laugh about all the insane
children. it was a good summer.

I'm going to miss my BFF Collin. He is such a punk...but i heart him.Add Image
Then there is Hunter...and the fact that we are 99% sure he IS the giraffe on Madagascar.
Like I said, I will definitely miss our cool staff, and how we weren't afraid to be one of the kids

I will miss the fact that these 2 LOVED each other
but couldn't ever have a conversation because she doesnt speak english.

And my little friend Crew who we were convinced was an 80 year old man
...who was ALWAYS searching for free stuff.

Or the fact that these 2 kids are my FAVORITE, and they decided they love each other the last week of camp. precious.

nope. not gonna do it.

today i decided im not going to grow. i refuse. i think i would rather be a kid.

i mean...i will pretend i am an adult when i need to,
but i have too much of an inner child to keep bottled inside.
for work we played at Planet Kid today. and i had fun.
lots of fun
i am still a kid.
and a kid i will remain.

why i love my job

this is pretty self explanatory...i love my job!
  • i play all day
  • i get paid to get uber tan
  • i get "field" experience for my future career
  • probably my all time favorite treat (other than that of the chocolate family) is a snowcone. and at my job...we get FREE ones from "snowcone man trevor" on wednesdays and fridays. he's the coolest kid i know...pretty cute too ;)
  • i love swimming. and i get paid to do it. my favorite part of swimming is holding my breath and going underwater and listening to how quiet it is under there. i really wish i could be a fish. its just cool to watch people jump in the water and how its almost completely silent.
  • kids say the funniest things. i have half a million stories each day where kids just know how to crack me up
  • the other counselors i work with are awesome.
  • i get to go on fun fields trips, like the movies, bowling, blacklight mini golf, etc etc
  • i get to be a kid a gain

career alternative? or not.

i think that if i wasn't so adamant and captivated by the idea of being an elementary teacher, i would like to be a counselor or psychologist. i have always been fascinated by how people are different in the way that they react to situations, and how they handle life. its so thrilling how everyone is so unique in that, and how much it says about a person. i love taking personality tests and learning more about myself and how i can interact with some people better than others. i took the free version of the personality test on colorcode.com it was really interesting to read because for the longest time i thought i had a blue personality, but i am in fact white...hum.

kids say the darndest things!

It's so true...man i love my job. Yesterday working at the elementary school doing after school club I had 2 funny moments:

One of the first grade girls was talking about how her brother is in high school because he is 18 years old, and she thought it would be so cool to be in high school. She then asked me how old i was and if it's fun to be 18 years old. I asked her how old she thought I was and she said 18 because I seem to have a fun life. When I told her I was actually 20 and turning 21 in a few months she had a look of pure terror on her face! She ran over, gave me a big and and said "Oh no! Whitney, I wish you were zero!!" When I asked her why she said "Because if you were zero, you would have a longer life and not die so soon!"

I couldn't help but laugh at her concern for my life. It made me happy for sure.

The other instance was when the kids were in the gym playing. There were 3 or 4 younger kids that asked me to play on the "cruise ship" with them, me being a kid at heart said yes of course. It wasn't till like 10 minutes into this game of pretend cruise ship and swimming with sharks that one of the 5th grades girls came over an looked at me in disgust. I asked her what she needed and all she said was "I cant believe you are in college and doing this. Wow, you are a really immature older person."

hahaha I laughed for a good 20 minutes and continued on my "journey across the ocean." I sure do love my job. :)
